Eighty percent of candidates representing or supported by ARF win in the local government elections.
ARF-supported candidates won in more than 150 communities–with two additional candidates winning in towns. ARF’s parliamentary faction leader Aghvan Vartanian said that the results were satisfactory. According to him–there were some irregularities–though not too many.
In order to avoid reoccurrence of such irregularities during presidential and parliamentary elections–Vartanian sated that those responsible for wrongdoings should be punished "The election lists are still in bad shape. If there is political will–it will be possible to fix them shortly," he said.
In a positive trend–compared to previous elections–there was increased political party participation. Vartanian denounced–however–parties that preferred not to participate–citing three possibilities: "Either they were not ready–they did not realize the importance–or they insured themselves of possible failure."
