Mysterious Cargo Arrives in Javakhk

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The residents of villages of the Ninotsminda province of Georgia–a region of Javakhk* populated by mainly ethnic Armenia’s–expressed concern about activities taking place in the vicinity of a Georgian church located not far from the province’s Poka village. The A-INFO news agency reported that helicopters have landed there during past few days–unloading mysterious cargo. Residents say that members of helicopter crews spoke a foreign language.


A-INFO also reported that the UN regional office to open in Akhalkalak in the near future will–as a priority–develop the agricultural capacity of the Javakhk province.

* Javakhk is divided into two districts called Akhalkalaki and Ninotsminda (formerly Bogdanovka)–also the names of the district capitals that make up about 20% of the total population. Together the two districts cover about 850 square miles with a population slightly over 100,000–of which over 90% is Armenian.
