Details Emerge About Naghdalian Murder

YEREVAN (Armenpress)-Details on the murder of the chairman of Armenian Public TV and Radio Tigran Naghdalian emerged as the Armenia’s General Prosecutor’s Office revealed that Lyova Harutyunian ordered the killing back in November 2002–by offering his relative Gegham Shahbazian $30,000 to kill Naghdalian.

The Office also reported that in order to substantiate the offer–Shahbazian apparently appealed to his partner Hovhannes Harutyunian to look into the matter.

Having verified the source–Harutyunian allegedly informed Shahbazian several days later that everything remains in force–and that in the future–Shahbazian must only keep in touch with him regarding the preparation and organization of murder; he promised to pay Shahbazian $50,000 to execute the murder.

Shahbazian apparently gathered a group that included Harutyunian as well as the latter’s friend Felix Arustamian–and utilizing his personal car–Shahbazian and the group tracked Naghdalian’s schedule.

They allegedly decided to kill Naghdalian as he left his parents’ apartment on Zakian Street on December 28–2002.

Harutyunian apparently pulled the trigger–shooting Naghdalian in his head–and escaped in Shahbazian’s car.

The investigation continues.
