GLENDALE–In celebration of International Women’s Day–an art exhibit dedicated to the works of Armenian Women opened with a wine and cheese reception at Harvest Gallery in Glendale–California on Friday–March 7 at 7:30 PM.
Organized by the PR Committee of the ARS Western region–and under the auspices of the Regional Executive of the ARS-Western USA–the exhibit displays the works of eighteen Armenian artists from the Diaspora as well as Armenia and Artsakh.
ARS members and supporters alike gathered at Harvest Gallery–along with artists from the area whose works are displayed–ARS Western USA regional executive charwoman Sonia Peltekian–and other Board of Regional Director members–ARS Central Executive member Anahid Meymarian–ARS Regional Board representative to the ARS PR Committee Guitarig Kocharian–and gallery owner Aris Ajand.
In conducting the opening of the exhibit and welcoming guests–Guitarig Kocharian said–"This exhibit represents an unprecedented celebration of International Women’s Day in the region with the works of eighteen Armenian women artists–six of whom are from Armenia and Artsakh."
Kocharian introduced and thanked the local artist present at the opening: Shake Hovagimian–Aida Hughes– Tamara Khachatrian–Jeannette Natasha Kostan– Seta Manoukian–Alexandra Manoukyan–Sylvia Megerdichian–Alina Mnatsakanian–Susanna Sevoyan–Anahit Vart–Seeroon Yeretzian–Adana Zohrabian,
Artists from Armenia whose works are displayed are Jasmine Ter Hovanessyan–Mira Kirakosian-Hua–Lousine Naghdlyan––Gohar Tovmassyan–Teni Vardanian; one of the artists–Gayane–is from Stepanagert.
ARS Western-USA Chairwoman Sonia Peltekian thanked those present for their support and reminded that an ARS-organized day long forum dedicated to International Women’s day will take place the following weekend (see details below).
Peltekian expressed appreciation to all participating artists–Harvest Gallery owner Aris Ajand–ARS PR Committee chairwoman Guitarig Kocharian and especially to Edwin Kocharian for his endless efforts to realize the exhibit.
The exhibit will run until March 16 – 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM (Thursday and Friday–until 9:00 PM). Harvest Gallery is located at 938 N. Brand Boulevard in Glendale: Phone 818-546-1000.
An ARS-organized forum dedicated to International Women’s Day will be held on Saturday–March 15–10 AM-4 PM at the Glendale Central Library Auditorium located at 222 E. Harvard Street in Glendale.
