Dynamic Celebration Planned Marking AYF’s 70 Years

HOLLYWOOD–The Armenian Youth Federation–Western USA announced on Wednesday that it will be commemorating the 70th anniversary of the AYF with a celebration at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre Hollywood at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday May 18.

Founded in 1933 by General Karekin Njdeh–the AYF has provided 70 years of service to Armenian American communities across the nation. Over 50,000 Armenian American youth have held membership in the AYF since its founding.

The keynote speaker at the celebration will the chairman of the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) Ken Hachikian.

"The AYF has always been and continues to be on the frontline of important issues for the Armenian American community," said AYF Public Affairs Director Vicken Sosikian. "From rebuilding churches and schools in Artsakh with the Youth Corps program–to political activism during protests demanding Armenian Genocide recognition–to the humbling experience of volunteering at homeless shelters in our communities–the AYF is committed to serving its long-term goal of a free–independent–and united Armenia"

The celebration will include two video presentations–one on the history of the AYF and one about its current projects and programs.

Performances at the event will include world famous singer from Armenia Shushan Petrosyan–the recipient of over a dozen awards.

"The evening will also commend the youth for their undying dedication and positive energy to the Armenian Cause throughout the past 70 years," said AYF Public Relations Central Council Chairman Raffi Semerdjian. "The Celebration will also set the course for future activism," noted Semerdjian.

The John Anson Ford Amphitheatre is located at 2580 Cahuenga Blvd.–East–Hollywood–CA 90068.

Admission is free and youth are especially encouraged to attend.
