Well-known actor Armenian Khoren Abrahamyan–75–considered one of the best of his generation–died in Yerevan–Armenia on Friday.
A native of Yerevan–Abrahamyan graduated from the Acting Department of Yerevan Fine Arts and Theater Institute. He held many leading roles in theater productions and cinema–and later became a director–with over 30 films to his credit–including "The Song of the First Love,"The Saroyan Brothers," and "We and Our Mountains."
He was the executive director of the Sundukyan Drama Theater of Yerevan until his death.
"I learned about the unexpected death of national artist Khoren Abrahamian with great pain. Our people have lost a true artist–master of the Armenian stage and film," said President Robert Kocharian.
A state funeral will be held for Abrahamyan.
