YEREVAN (Combined Sources)–The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund on Wednesday launched a two-day phonathon in Armenia to raise funds for several projects in the Mardakert region of Mountainous Karabagh Republic.
An official from the Fund said that 2 million drams have already been pledged.
A similar phonathon will commence in France on Thursday. That phonathon raised $1 million last year.
The US affiliate of the Fund–Armenia Fund–Inc. will hold its traditional Thanksgiving Day Telethon on November 24 from 8:00AM to 8:00PM (PST)–the Eighth Annual Telethon is a 12-hour–live telecast airing in over 25 communities throughout the United States as well as Europe–South America–the CIS–and the Middle East. Telethon 2005 will also stream live on the internet at www.armeniafund.org.
All of this year’s fundraising efforts will go to aid Mardakert–through a multilevel infrastructure development project to revitalize healthcare–drinking water systems–education–and agricultural development in the war-torn region of Karabagh.
