Karabagh Will Not Return to Past

(A1 Plus)–To commemorate the 14th anniversary of Karabagh’s independence–the Republic’s Foreign Ministry delivered a message saying that independence is greatest treasure for residents of Karabagh–amidst Azerbaijan’s blockade and military aggression. The Foreign Ministry’s statement also made it clear that Karabagh will never give up its sovereignty–saying that "there must be no illusions."

On December 10–1991–Mountainous Karabagh declared its independence from the Soviet Union and Azerbaijan. Through a referendum–99.89% of Karabagh’s residents voted for independence. Numerous international monitors observed the process–and after parliamentary elections on December 28–Mountainous Karabagh Republic’s first government was formed.
