Javakhk Reviews Threat of Eliminating Armenian Language Instruction in Region

AKHALKALAK (Armenpress)–A conference dedicated to the 1600th anniversary of creation of the Armenian alphabet was held in the mostly Armenian populated region of Javakhk in Southern Georgia.

Organized by the Union of Javakhk Armenia’s–the conference addressed the importance of the creation of the Armenian alphabet–and reviewed Georgia’s education policy recently implemented in the region.

That policy purports substituting Armenian language instruction with Georgian–effectively eliminating Armenian from class curriculums.
