Kocharian Meets EU Ambassadors Briefs on Karabagh Deal Developments

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian president Robert Kocharian said Friday that Armenia cooperates effectively with the European Union as a whole and with its individual members. During a meeting with the ambassadors of EU countries and the resident representative of the European Commission–Kocharian said the start of negotiations between Armenia and the EU within the framework of the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) program was a landmark in Armenia’s relations with the EU.

He expressed hope that these talks would end in near future. "The package of Armenian proposals shows that we intend to do some serious work and expect effective mutual activity," he said.

The main focus of conversation with the ambassadors was about the status of the Karabagh conflict resolution process. Kocharian briefed the ambassadors on the latest developmen’s and hinted that there have been certain advances that could lead to a breakthrough in the negotiations process.

Kocharian also discussed other pertinent issues including Armenia’s relations with neighboring countries.
