Armenia’s Ice Dancers Place 20th in Olympics Skating Finals

TURIN (Combined Sources)–Armenian ice dancing pair Anastasia Grebenkina and Vazgen Azroyan came in 20th place Monday–February 20–at the Ice Dancing finals of the 2006 Winter Olympics. They also performed in Turin February 17 and 19.

Anastasia and Vazgen started skating as a pair in 1996. They took part in and won a number of international competitions (Skate-America–Skate-Israel–Golden Spin–and others). They have been coached by Svetlana Alexeeva–Rostislav Sinitsyn–and Christopher Dean.

In 2002 Anastasia and Vazgen entered a new stage of their athletic careers when they started working with coach Alexei Gorshkov and choreographer Sergei Petukhov at Odintsovo Skate Center in Moscow and prepared to represent Armenia at international competitions–such as the 2006 Olympics.

The ice dancing pair will now take part in the World Championships to be held in March in Calgary–Canada–reported the Republic of Armenia Figure Skating Federation.
