Oskanian Attends Security Policy Conference in Munich

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian Saturday participated in the 43d Munich Security Policy conference. For more than 35 years leaders of leading countries gather in Munich to discuss security issues. The Armenian Foreign Ministry press service told Armenpress that during conference Oskanian met with his Georgian counterpart Gela Bezhuashvili. During the meeting the sides discussed bilateral relations and the approaches of the two countries toward existing conflicts of the region. Oskanian, once again, reiterated Armenia’s position on the resolution GUAMGeorgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova–has presented to UN. The minister pointed out that its approval would have negative consequences on the establishment of an atmosphere of trust in the region. The sides also discussed a number of regional issues, including the current state of Georgian-Russian relations. The Armenian minister also met with political director of German Foreign Ministry Michael Scheffer. During the meeting they discussed prospects of Armenia-EU cooperation within the framework of EU’s New Neighborhood Policy. They also talked about Armenian-Turkish relations and the current developmen’s in the Karabakh conflict resolution process. Oskanian visited Cologne Sunday where he met with the representatives of Armenian community and briefed them on reforms in Armenia and the Karabakh conflict resolution process.
