Yeraz Dance School to Stage Performance

ORANGE COUNTY–Under the auspices of the Hamazkayin Armenian Cultural and Educational Association, the Hamazkayin Yeraz School of Armenian Dance is proud to present an exceptional dance production “Ov Hayotz Askhar.” More than 30 students from the immediate and surrounding Orange County, Ca areas have been working diligently to display their talents and pride in Armenian Folk Dance. “Ov Hayotz Akhar. A tribute to the Armenian Nation and its people” will be presented on Sunday June 24, at the Hector Godinez High Performing Arts Auditorium at 3:30 p.m. The Yeraz School of Armenian Dance was established in 2004 and recently joined hands with the Hamazkayin Orange County “Siamanto” Chapter. Their mission is to instill in the Armenian youth of Orange County an exceptional love, respect and understanding of Armenian Music and Dance. For the past several months, over thirty students have been working diligently to learn the various steps, movemen’s and choreography of the many dances to be performed on June 24. Their inspiration comes from their director, Pearlene Varjabedian, a native of Boston, MA and a former dancer of the prominent Sayat Nova Dance Company of Boston, the Hamazkayin Erepouni Dance Group and the AGBU Daron Dance Ensemble of Boston, Varjabedian’s passion and respect for classical and contemporary Armenian Folk dance immerses through her dedication and love to her students and shines through their performance. The students of the Hamazkayin Yeraz School of Armenian Dance will perform an entire new repertoire of captivating dances consisting of traditional, classical and modern Armenian Folk Dance in their unique and traditional Armenian Costumes which have been custom designed. “Ov Hayotz Askhar” promises to take the audience on a very memorable and proud journey as they watch these young talented students perform.
