ISTANBUL (Marmara)–Former Turkish Ambassador to the US and a current member of Turkey’s parliament Sukru Elekdag warned his fellow Turks that Turkey gradually was losing the battle against the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
Elektag, who for the past several years has devoted his life to denying the Genocide, warned that the recently approved Europarliament measure against Genocide denial had paved the way for the Armenian Genocide to be recognized and its deniers punished.
The former Turkish Ambassador said that the law would allow the European courts to make decisions regarding the Genocide and could imprison Genocide deniers for up to three years.
Elektag explained that all European Union members now would have to make changes to their laws to correspond with the European Parliament laws and when that happens, the Armenian lobby and countries with enmity toward Turkey would take advantage of this and would work against Turkey.
