Millennium Challenge Corp. Head Visits Akhalkalak

AKHALKALAK, Georgia (Armenpress)–The Chief Executive Office of the Millennium Challenge Corporation John Danilovich Thursday visited Akhalkalak accompanied by U.S. Ambassador to Georgia John Tarftu and director of the MCC Georgian program Lusha Sharidze.
A-INFO reported that they passed by a helicopter over the roads which are included in the MCC program. The officials also met with the members of Akhalkalak region and presented the entire program by which it is expected to restore Tbilisi-Tsalka-Ninotsminda-Bavra and Kartsakh-Ninotsminda roads.
Around $300 million has been earmarked for the implementation of the program, $100 million of which has already been provided. The remainder of the sum will be provided in July when it will be clear which of the construction companies of Georgia will win in the announced competition.
Georgian parliament member Hamlet Movsisian greeted the guests suggesting that local residents be involved in the works. The guests accepted the suggestion and were greeted by the members of sakrebulo.
The construction will begin in July and will last until 2011.
