It’s Back to School Time!

Schoolchirdren with Western Prelate Moushegh Mardirossian

GLENDALE–It’s that time of the year. Thousands of Armenian students returned to classrooms to begin a new academic year. Whether in public or private schools, students will embark on yet another academic experience, bringing them closer to their future professions and vocations.
The Western Prelacy-affiliated schools began the new academic year Wednesday with the traditional opening ceremonies and prayers led by Prelacy pastors, who also conveyed to the students the Prelate’s back to school message.
Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, accompanied by St. Mary’s pastors Rev. Gomidas Torossian and Rev. Ardag Demirjian, attended and participated in the opening of Vahan and Anoush Chamlian School. Also in attendance was Board of Regents representative George Chorbajian, and education committee representative Aline Babayan.
During the special opening ceremony, the Prelate conveyed his message to the students in which he reminded the students that His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, has declared 2007 the Year of the Armenian Language, urging them to coordinate various events to celebrate the language.
Principal Vazken Madenlian, Vice-Principal Rita Kaprielian, and Aline Babayan also delivered their remarks to the students.
