ANC of Jerusalem Condemns Babacan’s Attempts to Influence Israel

JERUSALEM-The Armenian National Committee of Jerusalem publicly condemned Last Tuesday Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan’s recent trip to Israel to muster support against the Armenian Genocide Resolution on the eve of its hearing in the House Foreign Relations Committee.
Bellow is the text:
It is with grave concern and consternation that we are following Israeli Foreign Ministry attempts to influence congressmen not to vote for the Armenian Genocide Resolution in the U.S. Congress.,"
On October 8th, the Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan paid a two day visit to Israel with the declared objective to seek Israel’s help to pressure Jewish organizations in America to lobby against the Armenian Genocide legislation. We regret to say that this shameful visit is taking place in open daylight. We are witnessing the repetition of a patter. Twice in the recent past the Israeli embassy in Washington and 12 American Jewish organizations were fully mobilized to defeat Armenian Genocide bills in Congress.
We strongly condemn these past and current efforts to undermine the Armenian Genocide bill. It is an insult to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust.
We call upon the Israeli intellectuals and people of conscience to break their silence and speak out in condemnation of this shameful intervention.
