YEREVAN (Yerkir)-The PACE mission to monitor cultural monumen’s and cites in the South Caucasus has once again been postponed.
The mission, which was set to arrive in the region to evaluate the condition on cultural monumen’s in Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan, and Nakhichevan, was postponed last year due to Baku’s insistence that PACE monitors travel to Karabakh through Azerbaijan. The mission had been rescheduled to occur sometime in the first quarter of 2008.
"The PACE mission on cultural heritage of the committee on culture, education and science is not scheduled to visit the South Caucasus in the near future," PACE rapporteur Edward O’Hara remarked.
"The visit of my mission was a goodwill gesture. The issue is important and will be apparently discussed at the PACE winter session January 21-25," O’Hara said.
