French, Azeri Foreign Ministers Discuss Karabakh

BAKU (Armenpress)-The French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner met with his Azeri counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov in Paris Friday to discuss the OSCE’s basic principles of peace, which were proposed to Armenia and Azerbaijan in November last year.
"The French foreign minister welcomed the proposal concerning the peace talks between Baku and Yerevan on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict during his meeting with Elmar Mammadyarov, his Azerbaijani counterpart," the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France said to Trend news agency.
"The fact that the peace talks still continue in spite of the presidential elections to be held in Armenia and Azerbaijan is a good signal," Kouchner was quoted as saying.
The French minister stressed the significance of the continuation of the talks on the basis of the principles stated in the document introduced to the conflicting parties in November 2007 in Madrid by the co-chairmen of OSCE.
