Russian Ambassador to Baku Explains OSCE Opposition to UN Resolution

BAKU (Armenpress)–Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vasily Istratov was in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku Tuesday where he explained to reporters at a press conference why Russia, France, and the US voted against an Azeri drafted resolution during Friday’s UN General Assembly session.
The three OSCE co-chair country’s voted against the resolution because its text was not balanced, Istratov explained. He said, that the mediating country’s had repeatedly requested amendmen’s be made to the resolution but official Baku was unwilling to do so and submitted the resolution for a vote without the requested amendmen’s.
Istratov also reiterated his opposition to changing the format of the OSCE Minsk Group negotiations, saying it was a complicated process.
