Western Prelacy Hosts Mavian Art Exhibit

LA CRESCENETA–On the evening of Friday March 28, the opening of an art exhibit featuring the works of Italian-Armenian artist Marina Mavian took place at the Prelacy “Dikran and Zarouhie Der Ghazarian” Hall. Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian presided over the opening of the exhibit which was organized by the Prelacy Outreach Committee.
The evening began with remarks by Outreach Committee Chair Herair Jermakian who welcomed the guests and introduced the artist who, despite being born and raised in Italy where there was virtually no Armenian community, was deeply drawn to Armenian art and culture as evidenced by her works. The artist was then invited to offer her remarks in which she thanked the Prelate for inviting her to the Prelacy to exhibit her works, and expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to visit Los Angeles and to be among such a large Armenian community.
The official program concluded with remarks by the Prelate who began by greeting the organizers of the event and the guests. He commended the artist for her works, emphasizing her strong spiritual and emotional bond to our ancient heritage as her inspiration, which she vividly expresses through her paintings of our Saints and Churches. He continued that it was in recognition of this spirit that this exhibit was organized. At the conclusion of his remarks the Prelate presented Ms. Mavian with a memento.
Guest then had the chance to view and purchase the artworks and to enjoy a reception organized by the Ladies Auxiliary.
