State Tree Company to Plant Over 10,000 Acres of Trees

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Hayantar (Armenian Forests), a non-commercial state-run company will plant over 4,400 hectares of Armenian forests this year in all regions of the country and in the capital city Yerevan.
The program will have a 400 million dram budget, part of which is a government subsidy. The rest of the funding is part of a Japanese government grant.
Ruben Petrosian, a chief specialist of the company, said to Armenpress over 1 million plants and bushes will be planted across the country. Seedlings will be bought from private nurseries, he said. But the bulk is grown by nurseries run by the company, he noted.
Hayantar restored 7,420 hectares of forests, Petrosian said.
