Armenia Hosts BSEC Committee Session

YEREVAN (ArmRadio)–Parliamentarians from half a dozen countries met in Armenia’s National Assembly Wednesday to participate in a session of the State-Political Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization.
Delegations from Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Russia, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine participated in the forum on regional cooperation.
The BSEC can play a very positive role in the regional integration, as well as improvement of Armenian-Turkish relations, National Assembly Vice-Speaker Arevik Petrosyan said during the session.
The BSEC has allowed constructive relations, within the framework of BSEC, to emerge between Turkish and Armenian parliamentarians, according to National Assembly Deputy Ara Nranyan, who is also a member of the BSEC Parliamentary Assembly’s State-Political Committee. The relations within the BSEC serve to relieve disagreemen’s between the two countries and facilitate common decisions on some issues, he added.
But Azerbaijan’s delegation continues to maintain an aggressive position in the BSEC’s Parliamentary Assembly, he explained.
"[Azerbaijan’s attitude] does not promote constructive discussions and is not welcomed by representatives of other countries," Nranyan explained.
