Nalbandian Discusses Policies with Foreign Diplomats

YEREVAN (ArmRadio)–Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met on Wednesday with heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Armenia to discuss Armenia’s foreign policy priorities and its position on contemporary issues in international relations.
Minister Nalbandian said Armenia will continue making steps in the direction of developing relations with its partner states.
"Armenia will continue deepening the special strategic partnership with Russia, and will take steps to deepen the friendly partnership and cooperation with the US," he explained.
He also stressed that Armenia’s relationship with Europe has become a top priority for its foreign policy.
Turning to Armenia’s cooperation within international organizations, Nalbandian noted that Armenia’s active involvement within the UN, the OSCE, the Council of Europe and other international organizations will continue to develop.
"Armenia also values its ties with its immediate neighbors, and is ready to make every effort to improve its relations with those neighbors with which it still has problems," he said.
But the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh Peace remains Armenia’s top priority, he said, adding that Armenia remains steadfast in its commitment to continue negotiations in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.
The normalization of relations with Turkey is also important and Armenia is still open to the developing of relations without any preconditions, the Foreign Minister said.
Nalbandian also stressed the importance of the Diaspora’s role in the development of Armenia’s relations with other countries.
