YEREVAN (Armenpress)-The Iranian Ambassador to Armenia met with Armenia’s Defense Minister Wednesday to discuss bilateral military relations and the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict settlement process.
During their meeting, Ambassador Seyed Ali congratulated Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan on his appointment and relayed similar sentimen’s from Iranian Defense Minister Mostafa Mohhamad Najari, Defense Ministry Spokesman Seyran Shahsuvaryan told Armenpress.
Both men noted during their discussions that Armenian-Iranian relations have resulted in serious political and economic achievemen’s for both countries. These achievemen’s, they agreed, is a result of historic and fraternal relations between the two peoples.
Ohanyan and Ali discussed the future of Armenian-Iranian military relations and also exchanged thoughts over a number of issues on regional security and stability. The peaceful resolution of the Karabakh Conflict was underscored.
Later in the day, Ohanyan traveled to Aparan where he visited the "Revival" memorial complex dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide and the heroes of 1918 Aparan battle. The Defense Minister was accompanied by Aragatsotn Governor Gabriel Gyozalian and representatives of local governmental bodies. The purpose of his visit was to get familiarized with the program for Aparan’s May 28 celebrations.
