YEREVAN (Armenpress)-The Armenian Government has issued checks for $1000 (300,000 drams) to over 2000 families, listed as socially insecure households.
The amount, which was awarded to 2,317 families, is meant as a subsidy for parents who have three or more children. The payment covers births during the first six months of 2007.
According to the Labor and Social Affairs Ministry, 170,000 Armenian families are
considered socially insecure.
The subsidy payment was raised to 300,000 drams from 200,000 drams last year, when 2,654 such families received it.
