Inaugural Exhibit at the Center for Experimental Art and Architecture

The CEAA (Center for Experimental Art and Architecture) is proud to present its inaugural exhibit, the artworks and screening of “Stone Touch Time”, by Garin? Torossian, on Thursday, August 14, 2008.

Garin? Torossian, a filmmaker and visual artist, was awarded Best Documentary at the Warsaw International film festival for “Stone Touch Time”(2007) and nominated at the Berlin, Melbourne, and Houston film festivals for her various short films. Retrospectives of her work include the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Cinematheque of Yerevan, Berlin Arsenal, and
Telluride Film Festival, amongst others.

Stone Touch Time, Torossian’s first feature length film, is an experimental documentary essay exploring a journey to the imagined homeland – Armenia. The film, which will air on the Sundance Channel this November, traces two diasporan Armenian women. One is a tourist, visiting Armenia for the first time, while the other, a frequent visitor (portrayed by Arsine Khanjian), renders an analytical perspective.

“The theme of identity and imagination has concerned me from the beginning of my work. I always knew that this search for identity, which was swimming in the imagination, would surface in the homeland. Armenia was always the destination. The fact that it is real and different from the imagined world gives clarity to identity,“ says Torossian.

CEAA is dedicated to presenting emerging and established artists, architects, filmmakers, and photographers that have chosen experimentation as their primary mode of expression, demonstrating innovation and advancement in their respective disciplines.

Opening reception of Ms. Torossian’s artwork will begin at 7:00 PM. The screening of “Stone Touch Time” (70 min) will begin at 8:30 PM, followed by an interview with the artist at CEAA, 3191 Casitas Ave, Suite 138, Los Angeles, CA 90039. For further information and directions please visit
