Statement on the Publication of the First English Edition of the Asbarez

It is the time that our community in California asserts itself as an organized and lively unit.

We believe, that the need to unite our political and cultural forces are growing bigger every day and that such a unity would prove to be extremely instrumental in the task of creating an atmosphere where constructive action could be possible on all levels.

We believe, that our community should know itself better. It should take time to look back at its achievement. We also believe that it should accept its shortcomings, examine and rectify them.

We believe, that California Armenia’s, as individuals and as a community, should be, as integral parts of the Armenian society, directly involved in all aspects of American life, by helping America in its efforts to create a better society and a better world. We consider the duty of the Armenian newspapers to help our community achieve these goals.

For 62 years, the ASBAREZ has done more than its share in this regard. We take the occasion of the publication of the ASBAREZ in Los Angeles to reaffirm our intention to serve our community and our people.

We hope that this newly established English section of the ASBAREZ will help us in our efforts to achieve a better communication with our readers.

The pages of the ASBAREZ are open to all, who have the interests of our people at heart; Asbarez is, as it has always been, the newspaper for all Armenia’s.

We are sure, that in this difficult task, our readers with stand by us, as they have always done in the past.
