A New Chapter Begins for Asbarez Readers

Former and Current Asbarez editors cut centenary cake

This week we marked our 100th anniversary. This newspaper that began publishing in 1908 with a mission to cater to its readers and provide accurate information has been able to flourish for 100 years because at every turning point it has been able to evolve with the changes in the community and the tastes of its readers.

On this occasion, we are also making change in line with the century-old evolution process that has become part and parcel of Asbarez’s mission.

Thus, beginning next week (Monday, August 25), Asbarez will add a sixth edition to its daily publication, which will be a stand alone English Weekly publication to be delivered to our subscribers on Mondays. As such, the Armenian section will be published Tuesday through Saturday and the English Section will be published on Mondays.

This exciting new publication will be a continuation of another change we introduced in May when our daily English print edition went online and became an entirely electronic component of Asbarez. In the past three months, we have seen increased interest in our newspaper as readers have received our content in their inboxes or via our website.

Commen’s from our readers and community members have indicated that the online component allows the reader more seamless–and targeted–access to our news, information and analysis. To receive our daily posts, please visit register at the site by clicking the register button.

When the English Edition of Asbarez was launched on May 1, 1970, an editorial in that premier edition said: “We hope that this newly established English section of the Asbarez will help us in our efforts to achieve a better communication with our readers.” Today, we echo the sentimen’s of our predecessors and also reiterate another statement from that editorial: “We are sure, that in this difficult task, our readers will stand by us, as they have always done so.

We’ve had a great run on Saturdays, but we want our readers to start the week with Asbarez and together we can make it a true arena for information and constructive community discourse.
