Metzamor Opens Training Center

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenia’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister, Armen Movsisian, presided over the opening ceremony Wednesday of an education and training center at the Metzamor Nuclear Power Plant.

According to Movsisian, the new center will allow Armenia to train a new generation of atomic technicians and power plant staff, which will increase the security and efficiency of the power plant. The construction of the training center was financed in part by the US government.

US Charge d’Affairs Joseph Pennington, who was present, praised US cooperation with Armenia and said he was proud the US supported the construction of the center.

American cooperation with Armenia in energy and security will continue, Pennington said, adding that the United States awaits the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Armenia.

According to Metzamor’s director, Gagik Markosian, the training center will provide technical training for graduates from Yerevan’s top universities and higher education establishmen’s.
