Sargsyan Meets with Cheney in Washington DC

WASHINGTON–Armenia’s Prime Minister, Tigran Sargsyan, was in Washington DC on Friday where he met with US Vice President Dick Cheney and Millennium Challenge Corporation President, Ambassador John Danilovich, reported Armenpress.

The Prime Minister arrived in Washington on Thursday and is set to depart back for Yerevan on Wednesday. He is in the US capital attending an annual joint session of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund taking place against the backdrop of unfolding global financial crisis.

Sargsyan and Cheney discussed prospects for greater US-Armenia relations as well as developmen’s in the Caucasus since the Russian-Georgian Conflict and Turkey’s proposal for a Caucasus Stability and Cooperation Pact to manage relations in the region.

During his meeting with Danilovich, Sargsyan discussed with the ambassador the programs in Armenia currently being implemented by the Millennium Challenge Corporation.

Sargsyan was also scheduled to meet with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, but no further details were given as to the agenda of his talks with Rice. Meetings are also scheduled with heads of multinational corporations, as well as his Georgian counterpart Lado Gurgenidze and the deputy prime minister of Netherlands.
