YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution process will continue under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group, said Armenia’s foreign ministry spokesperson Tigran Balayan Tuesday, in response to an Armenpress inquiry on Iran’s offer to mediate the conflict resolution process.
Iran expressed its desire to mediate the conflict following the Sept. 16 visit by Armenia’s Foreign Minister Eduard Nalabandian to Iran. The call was made by Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.
"Iran has proposed to mediate between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the resolution of the conflict," Iran’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Nasser Hamidi Zare told Trend News.
"Iran has held discussions on this issue with both parties of the conflict," he added.
The Iranian mediation offer comes as other regional countries have proposed other plans to resolve the conflict.
"There are certain ongoing processes in this region. Iran and other neighboring countries are interested in finding ways out of the situation," said Zare.
The Iranian ambassador hoped that Azerbaijan and Armenia would soon express their opinion about Tehran’s proposals.
