Nalbandian, Mammedyarov Meet in Helsinki

HELSINKI (Armenpress)–Armenia’s foreign minister, Eduard Nalbandian and his Azeri counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov met with the co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group for talks on the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process Wednesday on the sidelines of an annual summit of Foreign Ministers from OSCE member states

The meeting sought to bridge differences between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the basic principles of a Karabakh settlement that were formally proposed by the mediating troika in November last year, according to US Minsk Group co-chair Deputy Secretary of State Matthew Bryza.

“The main theme of discussions in Helsinki will be the efforts of OSCE co-chairing countries, Armenia and Azerbaijan to finish the main principles which create basis for comprehensive regulation of Karabakh conflict,” Bryza was quoted by the Azeri Trend News Agency as saying before the meeting.

In related news, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met Wednesday with the Secretary General of the OSCE, Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesman Tigran Balayan was quoted by Armradio as saying.

Balayan said Brichambaut will visit Armenia later in December.
