Document Defining Armenia-Diaspora Ties Nears Completion

YEREVAN (ArmRadio)–A document defining, for the first time, terms of cooperation between Armenia and its world-wide Diaspora is nearing completion, Armenia’s Diaspora Minister Hranoush Hakobian said Wednesday.

The Ministry has been working on the document for the last few months, according to Hakobian, who explained that it would lay out concrete principles and priorities for the Ministry’s cooperation with the Diaspora.

“The five drafts of the doctrine of development of the Armenia-Diaspora cooperation include both realistic and unacceptable provisions,” Hakobian said during a meeting to discuss the draft document.

“We organized this discussion to give an opportunity to different sectors of society to express their opinion and participate in the elaboration of the doctrine. Thus, we will be able to make the final text of the doctrine more comprehensive,” she said.

The preliminary text of the document has been submitted to the consideration of Diaspora Armenian organizations and will be presented for the Government’s approval after the ministry receives its recommendations, according to Hakobian.
