Armenian Tourism Documentary to Air on International TV

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenia’s will seek to shore up its tourism industry this year by showcasing its ancient roots for the world to see during an hour-long documentary set to air on international television later this year, Armenpress reported Thursday.

The film, titled “Armenia: Country of Noah,” is being produced by “Buzz Business” and will be shown in 12 parts on the following networks: National Geographic HBP, Spanish TBS, Discovery, BBC, France-5, Channel , Arthur Lalayan, a specialist in the Tourism and Territorial Development Department of the Economy Ministry told Armenpress.

The film, he said, chronicles the history of Armenia and its culture, providing a glimpse of the country’s rich tourist attractions. A special segment will also be dedicated to Yerevan and Nagorno-Karabakh.

Lalayan said that the government has earmarked 112,500 euros to finance the production of the film.

Earlier in 2007, the Armenian government financed the production and broadcast of a series of TV ads called “Armenia: Noah’s Route, Your Route” in a bid to use its religious past to boost its tourism. The TV spots aired on CNN and Euronews.
