Involved Parents Equal Successful Children

Parental involvement is a key ingredient in the success of a child’s growth and development. As firm believers of this concept, the Holy Martyrs ARS Pilavjian Preschool Administration has made the parents the focus of its last few activities.

On Friday, January 23, from 7 to 9 p.m., an informal social gathering was planned for the parents of the 4 year old groups at the school’s Minassian Hall.

“Our goal is to ease the transition from preschool to kindergarten as much as possible,” said Preschool Director Vehik Gabrielian.

“We hope that through our collaborative efforts with the Elementary School, we sent a clear message to our parents that we are all here to support them and help them as their children begin the next phase of their school career,” she continued.

Those present at the gathering included the Preschool Administration and faculty, the Elementary Administration and faculty, as well as members of the School Board.

The highlight of the evening was a montage of images portraying the preschoolers and elementary students engaged in daily activities.

On Tuesday, January 27, the Preschool Administration hosted another seminar in its Parenting Series with Dr. Ani Karayan. The event, held from 7 to 9 p.m,, was entitled “Methods of Discipline that Promote Self Worth”.

Some of the points Dr. Karayan stressed upon included strategies on how to build your child’s self-esteem, how to effectively talk to your children with maximum results, how to intrigue your children with interesting activities in order to alter negative behavior, and respecting your child.

The open forum setting gave the parents the opportunity to share, ask and learn different techniques of child rearing.

The event was attended by both parents and the Preschool faculty.
