NORTH HOLLWOOD—California’s largest law enforcement organization, the Peace Officer Research Association of California (PORAC), announced Friday that it has endorsed Los Angeles City Council Candidate Paul Krekorian. The PORAC endorsement is extremely important in demonstrating Paul Krekorian’s strength as the best public safety candidate in this race, especially following his endorsements by Sheriff Lee Baca and the United Firefighters of Los Angeles City.
“Paul Krekorian is unquestionably the best candidate for public safety in this campaign. We know that Paul will work closely with law enforcement to protect the people of Los Angeles, because he has a proven track record of fighting the tough fights for public safety,” PORAC President Ron Cottingham said. “We have long been impressed by Paul’s commitment to standing up for peace officers in California, and his extraordinary leadership in fighting against gangs, illegal guns and drugs in our neighborhoods. On December 8, I urge voters to stand with law enforcement officers throughout Los Angeles and vote for Paul Krekorian, our best hope for public safety in the Valley.”
Krekorian has long been lauded by public safety groups for his legislative record, Including the California Golden Shield Act, which honors fallen peace officers (AB 671); the Safe Neighborhoods Act, which gives local prosecutors greater ability to evict gangbangers and others who commit gun and drug crimes from our neighborhoods (AB 530); and his tireless efforts to fight against speeding throughout the San Fernando Valley and California.
PORAC’s 62,000 members are rank and file public safety officers throughout California. In the City of Los Angeles, PORAC is affiliated with several police agencies, including the L.A. Airport Police, the L.A. School Police, the L.A. Port Police, and several others.
“PORAC knows that public safety is my top priority, and I am thrilled that the law enforcement officers that they represent have joined our campaign for change,” Krekorian said. “I have always been proud of my close relationship with law enforcement professionals as we have worked together to reduce speeding, prevent gun violence and improve public safety throughout the Valley and state. I will continue those efforts by working closely with the men and women of the LAPD and the City’s other police departments, and by strengthening the important partnership between our communities and law enforcement.”
Way to go Paul!
We too have unwavering confidence in your abilities to bring about real change.
It seems the consensus is mounting.
Keep up the great work.
