Cal State Northridge to Mark Armenian Genocide With Vigil on April 22

NORTHRIDGE, CA—The Armenian Student Association of Cal State Northridge will commemorate the Armenian Genocide on April 22 with a candle light vigil at the Matador Bookstore Lawn (18111 Nordhoff St. Northridge, CA). The event, which will begin at 7 p.m., will culminate a week-long campaign to raise awareness of the crime on campus.

The commemoration will feature guest speakers, poetry readings and musical performances. Guest speakers include Andrew Goldberg, Producer and Director of the documentary “The Armenian Genocide,” and Dr. Garbis Der-Yeghiayan, President of Mashdots College.  

The college ASA kicked off its week-long campaign on Monday. The ASA has also set up lawn signs and posters displaying information about the Genocide at the South Sierra Squad and the Matador Walk.

Members from the school’s Armenian student body will from 12-4p.m. This will include a Genocide Lawn Display at the South Sierra Squad (all day), Armenian Genocide Time Line Display at the Matador Walk, and a Display/Student Activity for All Genocides on the Matador Walk.
