Davutoglu Reacts to Freeze in Armenia-Turkey Protocols

ANKARA (WorldBulletin)—Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Friday reacted to Armenia’s announcement a day earlier that it was annulling the Western-backed agreements to normalize its relations with Turkey.

Speaking to reporters in the Estonian capital of Tallinn, the Turkish top diplomat described Yerevan’s decision to suspend the Armenia-Turkey protocols process as a “unilateral” one, which he hoped would soon be reversed.

“It is a decision made by Armenia unilaterally. The decision is about their own process,” he said. “I hope that available political atmosphere will take place in Armenia and Turkey as soon as possible and the process will resume.”

Davutoglu said he believed many countries stood to benefit from the resumption of the Armenia-Turkey normalization process, hinting directly at the United States, France, and Russia, which serve as co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group mediating the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.  “Not only would Turkey and Armenia gain but all regional countries as well as the international community, especially the United States, Russia and France benefit from resumption of the process.”

He noted that the protocols remain in Turkey’s Parliamentary Foreign Affairs committee and that Turkey remained loyal to the process. “We are ready to take steps when appropriate conditions occur,” he said, adding that Official Ankara has discussed the matter with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The appropriate conditions you are waiting for will never occure, untill such time you accept the crimes of your forebears 'The Armenian Genocide' and keep your hands off Nagorno Karabagh.
