ISTANBUL ( Bloomberg)–Turkish authorities set fire to a mosque in Cyprus during the 1974 invasion of the Greek island to incite violence against its Greek population, retired Turkish Gen. Sabri Yirmibeşoğlu said on Friday during a televised interview on Habertürk.
Speaking about military strategy during a Habertürk interview, the general said Turks burned a mosque to increase animosity toward Greeks on Cyprus, Habertürk said. He did not say when the mosque-burning occurred. Turkey invaded the island in 1974 to prevent its unification with Greece.
Yirmibeşoğlu, who was in charge of civil resistance during the Cyprus war, said it was a rule of war to engage in acts of sabotage made to look as if they were carried out by the enemy.
Yirmibeşoğlu was later appointed secretary-general of Turkey’s powerful National Security Council.

Surprise surprise!
The all too familiar Islamic AlTaqia in action here again.
How many Armenian massacres were orchestrated this way throughout the centuries all too easily inciting the local Islamic mobs against their Armenian inhabitants, burning their churches and killing every Armenian they met on the street? Very easy by the likes of Talaat Pasha. Very easy. Historically repeated every thirty years throughout the Ottoman Empire.
