LONG BEACH, CA–Speaking to university students at California State Long Beach (CSULB) this week, Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Los Angeles touted his country’s strategic significance to the world and spoke of a “centuries old tradition of tolerance in his society, reported the Trend News Agency.
According to the Azeri Consulate, Elin Suleymanov was invited to the campus to speak about the country’s foreign policy and the history of the South Caucasus. In his talk, the Azeri diplomat also underscored Azerbaijan’s “strategic position” in the “key geographical region of Eurasia.
“For Azerbaijan, its geographical location at the junction of civilization and political systems is an opportunity to play a positive role in intercultural dialogue and global integration processes,” he was quoted by APA as saying.
Suleymanov insisted that Azerbaijan was seeking to forge its relations in the region based on integration and mutually beneficial partnerships. He went on to blame Armenia for its “nonconstructive” approach to regional relations, adding that “the irresponsible policy of Yerevan continues to affect the region and deprives Armenia itself of the opportunity of full-scale development.”
