HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – Melineh Kurdian’s second album, “The Where and How,” has been in the making for more than a year. It’ll debut on Saturday, October 23rd, at 8:00 PM at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood.
“My band and I got together with producer Jason Lord in May of 2009, for what I thought was going to be one day of recording,” says Melineh. “After hearing what we recorded that day, I really felt the songs calling for a little more attention.”
Jason, Melineh, and her drummer and co-writer Steve Krugman set out on a long-year odyssey, building layers of details on each of the five songs on the album.
“This is not an overly produced project by any means,” says Melineh. “There is such a lovely attention to detail with every instrument, with the vocals, and with the arrangements, that I still find myself discovering new little pieces each time I listen to the songs.”
Melineh and Steve co-wrote the second song on the album, “You’re Not There.” Audiences will have a chance to hear it at Melineh’s release party.
“I’d been writing and writing and trying to figure out what the title of this album would be, and then one morning it just came to me when I woke up,” says Melineh. “Sometimes you work yourself to the bone on something, and then you just realize that so much of what comes to you is magic and last-minute inspiration. I love that.”
Melineh’s songs will inspire new audiences starting later this month. After her performance at the Hotel Cafe (1623 1/2 N. Cahuenga Blvd., Los Angeles), the album will be available on the internet on sites like iTunes, Amazon, and CDBaby.
