ENCINO—The 47th anniversary of Holy Martyrs Church in Encino was celebrated on Sunday, November 7, with an Episcopal Divine Liturgy and the blessing of madagh.
Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian celebrated Divine Liturgy and delivered the sermon on this occasion. He was assisted at the altar by Parish Pastor Rev. Razmig Khatchadourian. Archbishop Yeprem Tabakian also participated in the service.
The Prelate gave thanks to God for granting this day for the parish community to come together and celebrate the 47th anniversary. He reflected on and commended the vision of the founders who nearly five decades ago had the foresight to establish the church for the growing Armenian population in the area. He prayed for the Lord to bless the memory of the founders who are no longer with us, and for Him to guide the path of present and future servants who work for the splendor of the church and community. Following Divine Liturgy and requiem, the Prelate was led in a procession to “Avedissian” Hall to conduct the blessing of madagh which was prepared by the Parish Ladies Auxiliary.
The ceremony came to a close with the Prelate’s benediction, and the singing of the Cilician and Armenian anthems.
The 47th anniversary banquet was held under the auspices of the Prelate on Friday, November 5, at “Deukmejian” Hall of Ararat Home.
The Prelate was in attendance and conveyed his message and blessings on this occasion.
The banquet was held under the auspices of the Prelate, and was organized by the Parish Pastor, Board of Trustees, and Ladies Auxiliary. The evening was hosted by Janet Vartazarian and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Nora Simonian.
