YEREVAN (ARKA)—The Russia-owned South-Caucasus Railway Company running Armenia’s railroad system announced on Tuesday that a new electric powered train will connect commuters in Armenia’s second largest city of Gyumri, in Shirak province to various towns and cities in the neighboring province of Lori.
The train will depart from Gyumri at 9 am every day and arrive at the Sanahin station in Lori at 1 pm. Along the way it will make stops in the towns of Maisian, Djajoor, Ghaltakchi, Nalband, Spitak, Archut, Vanadzor, Pambak, Shagali, Tumanian, and Kober.
South Caucasus Railways is a subsidiary of Russian Railways, which has owned a 100% stake in the company. The management of Armenia’s railway system was handed over to the South Caucasus Railways on February 13, 2008 for a 30-year concession, with a right to prolong the management term for another 10 years.
