LA CRESCENTA—The Council of Oriental Orthodox Bishops held its regular meeting Tuesday at St. Ephraim Syriac Orthodox Cathedral, hosted by Archbishop Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan (Prelate of the Syriac Church of the Western U.S.)
The day began with a prayer service led by Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Archbishop Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan, and Bishop Serapion, and with the participation of clergy from the three dioceses.
Very Rev. Fr. Muron Aznikian, Very Rev. Fr. Barthev Gulumian, and Rev. Fr. Razmig Khatchadourian also participated in the service and meeting.
During the meeting, reports were presented on the activities of the Sunday School and Youth Committees, and future collaborative efforts were drafted, among them the following:
– Oriental Orthodox Churches Sunday Schools Divine Liturgy and gathering in November of 2011.
– Gathering of the Oriental Orthodox Churches Youth Groups in the coming months.
The day concluded with a luncheon.

I don’t mean to sound rude but, where is Archbishop Hovnan Derderian? He used to participate in these meetings a few years ago, but suddenly, during the past two years, he has seemed to disappear.
Anyway, I am still very happy that Archbishop Moushegh was there representing the Armenian Church.
Well unfortunately Hovnan Surpazan is in South America with Vehapar. I know when Vehapar calls you go, but it does take him out of the area.
If that is the case, then Vical General Dajad Vartabed could have come or even Vatche Srpazan. If you would go to Asbarez archives or Western Prelacy/Diocese news archives, you would notice that in the past two years, Hovnan Srpazan is begining to seperate himself from the Oriental Orthodox Community and getting closer with the Greek Church.
Last week, during the joint divine liturgy at the St. Ephraim Orthodox Church in Burbank, no clergy was present to represent the Western Diocese.
I just want all of us Chiristians to get along and, in my opinion, such conferences really help the process.
I have no idea why Hayr Dajad or Vatche Surpazan were not sent. Maybe they were busy, I have no idea. I just pointed out where Hovnan Surpazan was.
I have no idea if one group is being favored over another. To be honest I am not sure what is being accomplished anyway. Get together, take a picture, have lunch…
Maybe they are solving world peace, I really don’t know.
Is it possible that the Diocese was not extented an invitation by The Council of Oriental Orthodox Bishops? Otherwise, why would Hovnan serpazan not send a representative from the Diocese in his absence?
Besides, what difference does it make? The Armenian Orthodox Church was a participant in this event. We should leave it at that.
There is no need to stir the yogourt, as the Armenian saying goes.
