Rep. Schmidt Must Return $500K to Turkish Coalition of America

Rep. Jean Schmidt

CINCINNATI, Ohio—In a statement released on August 5, the House Ethics Committee ruled that Rep. Jean Schmidt has received multiple improper gifts totaling $500,000 from the Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) between 2008 and 2010. The Committee ruled that Schmidt must pay the money back. However, she will not face sanctions by the House as she was able to pin the blame for her behavior on her attorneys Bruce Fein and David Saltzman.

The Ethics Committee ruling does not clear Schmidt of impropriety—she must amend her 2009 & 2010 financial disclosures and pay back the money to the Turkish Coalition of America. Schmidt can no longer accept impermissible gifts to fund her defamation case against local Cincinnati businessman David Krikorian. “The Ethics Committee proved that we were right all along: Rep Schmidt has received a half a million dollars in improper gifts from the TCA,” said Krikorian.

In turn, Schmidt said in a statement: “As I’ve stated publicly before, I neither sought nor intended to accept free legal services… I have been waiting for the Ethics Committee’s advice as to the best way to pay these bills. Now that I have that advice, I look forward to continuing to work cooperatively with the Committee to ensure that these bills are paid appropriately.”

Krikorian considered Schmidt’s efforts to plead ignorance “laughable.” “Personally I find it hard to believe that Jean Schmidt did not know the facts regarding her own attorneys in legal actions which she commenced in her own name—I find that to be laughable!” said David Krikorian. “The American people are tired of Congressmen and [Congress]women who break the rules and get away with it by blaming someone else. The  people of Ohio’s second district deserve better than an ignorant Congresswoman,” he added.

One example out of hundred politicians and so called “historians” being financed by criminal ‎Turkish government and Turkish fifth column such as “Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) ‎across the world!
This shows how corrupt and immoral politic in US Congress indeed is! ‎

She is no different than most of the elected politicians in Washington DC. While it is illegal to accept bribes from foreign governments, the legislators are hired as “consultants” and lobbyists and they receive huge amounts of money from these foreign interests. What they do is considered espionage in most countries, where the death penalty applies. But in the US, they are free to accept foreign money because of lack of enforcement. It is far cheaper for the Turkish government to pay a legislator $500,000 than to pay trillions in compensation to the victims of Genocide. We have the best government that money can buy.

One of the TCA’s most prized hypocrites…rep jean schmidt BUSTED!!!!

What a pathetic attempt at trying to plead ignorance. She should cough up the half a mill and submit her resignation letter yesterday. The people of Ohio can do so much better.

  4. Z said:

Indeed, she’s not clean. She takes bribe and actually must resign!
You can’t have dishonest people in the house. Plus she lies.
She takes bribes from the turks and she lies. This is unacceptable.

“unclean” is a very ” clean” word for her. I can think of hundreds of words that would be an apt description of this evil woman, but I’ll refrain from writing them out, out of respect of this newspaper. I just wish that Asbarez would not print her photo , it does really make me run for a bag or a bucket!

Now, that Schmidt is ‘caught’ – now, she wants to “ensure that these ‘bills are paid”… appropriately! But, are these ‘bills’ and too, to whom to be ‘repaid’?
Does this mean that she is paying monies back the Turks? Her statement reads; ‘these monies are to be paid back”… back to whom?? To the Turks? Turks specialize in such payments… as needed.
For this crime of accepting such monies as a member of the USA Congress – is she now exempt and not guilty of committing this crime against the citizens of the USA… or not, as a member of USA Congress??

David Krikorian should replace Rep. Jean Schmidt immediately and the $500,000 should be paid to him

instead of the turkish coalition of America, as punitive measures in distorting the election campagn in Ohio

and as red light to stop bribery and corruption and improper behavior!

I wonder why House (none)Ethics committee was nor harsh in punishing her!

That money should be confiscated by the government. That’s the Law. Rep. Krikorian has legal options to sue Rep Schmidt. But the Armenian struggle can get a lot of mileage out of this. We should write our reps demanding congressional impeachment. I have.!

  11. manooshag said:

Does the ‘solution’ of the return of the monies paid to Schmidt have a greater meaning… is/are more of our Congress involved with such ‘items’ via a Turkey. And therefore is returning all the monies “given” to Schmidt thus to be” given” back to Turks?? Says WHO!!. Returned to a Turkey, obviously guilty of paying off a Congressional member – a BIG “IN YOUR FACE” not only to the Congress of the United States of America, further, even to all the American citizens of United States of America… Turkey knows no limits of what it can and cannot do in the USA and to the USA… obviously, today, Schmidt!!

My wonderful nation of the United States of America… what is happening to you… bullies are taking over in our govenrment (Shmidt), non-citizens/other nations – misusing, misdirecting, lying and worse… and, the saddest part… THEY ARE GETTING AWAY WITH CRIMES AND MORE!! SUCH ACTIONS ARE OBVIOUSLY AND REALLY – AS THE EXPRESSIONS GOES:
“IN YOUR FACE, AMERICA”… Now from Turks… Who is next??

Great. The Turkish Coalition of America got what they wanted out of Schmidt and are now even getting their money back. win-win for them.

I don’t watch the news often on the TV… has the issue of the Schmidt receiving monies ONE HALF MILLION DOLLARS from the Turks been making news… ANY MEDIA… or is this issue being covered up… and, if so, WHY???? Is the muslim Turkey’s guilt being hidden??? Actually, Is a Turkey be repaid their ONE HALF MILLION DOLLARS – paid to a member of our USA Congress – Schmidt – for their IN YOUR FACE TO AMERICA… IF SO, AND TOO, WHY?? WHY IS TURKEY BEING CODDLED SO IN USA???

I wrote a letter to my congresswoman Mary Bono Mack and I just wrote another letter to my US Senator Barbara Boxer. I did not keep a copy of the first, but I did copy the second.
Here it is: ” Dear Se. Boxer
I have always been of the opinion that there is too much foreign influence in domestic US policy. Recently, Rep. Gene Schmidt has been censured for accepting over $ 500,000 from the Turkish government to help her campaign against another candidate. That candidate, was an American of Armenian background, and we know that the Representative was touting the ” NO Genocide” line, and now we know why. This is not the first time that this happened. If you recall, Mr. Hastert resigned after the FBI intercepted a wiretap where Turkish foreign agent bragged about bribing that Politician to pull the Armenian Genocide recognition bill from the floor. Since when do foreign governments feel free to offer bribes and hire former representatives to lobby and manipulate domestic US policy. Is the US government the best money can buy? Any place in the world, this kind of behavior would be considered treason. We need a new code of conduct with real teeth.”
I urge you all to write your representatives both in Congress and the senate. You have my permission to plagiarize the hell out of my letter if you so wish.

What say the citizens of the state of OHIO… of their Congresswoman Schmidt, earning one half million dollars ($500,000,00) for attending to Turkish issues – actually, it comes across as an IN YOUR FACE TO THE VOTERS OF OHIO…and, as well, AN IN YOUR FACE TO THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA… from an elected official who has been elected to Congress via votes of the citizens of Ohio, in the USA – but whose agenda extends receiving monies for a so-called ally – a Turkey.

Shades of Sibel Edmonds, who has been made to behave as if she were the guilty…. and not allowed to continue to supply the damaging efforts within our own USA government…. when in reality, she has been the ‘whistle blower’ who attempted to bring to the surface crimes our USA… from, supposed ally – Turkey. The departments of our USA government made certain that Sibel’s testimonies were subjected to processes that the various sections of the USA government prevented her truths/testimonies were withheld… WHY?

Journalism in the USA… wherefore art thou? Is there not any pursuit of the $500,000 gifted to Congresswomen Schmidt by the Turkeys no longer ‘news’? Has this ‘gift’ which she has ‘disowned’
now been returned to the Turkeys, as she had said was to be done? A bribing of our Congresswoman,
by the Turkish leaderships, and she is concerned that $500,000 shall be returned to the ‘gifter”!!
What an interesting story!! The behavior/action from within the walls of our USA Congress – ignored? Why?
Journalism in the USA… wherefore art thou? Busy seeking the latest ‘excitement’ from Hollywood??
And, who decides that this $500,000 ‘gift’ from a foreign nation to a member of our USA Congress
is not worthy of continued coverage by the USA journalists.
In reality, the lack of pursuit by journalists – of such an obvious vile infringement by a foreign nation – to seek to come INTO TO HALLS OF OUR USA CONGRESS – an IN YOUR FACE TO ALL AMERICANS –
causes me to wonder… why have our journalists sought to ignore this issue – how far has the intimations of a Turkey reached into our nations core/being. Would such actions be tolerated if this had happened
within the government of the Turkeys??
own USA Congress is being ignored…
issue – actually against all the citizens of our USA…
