Zepiour Shabani

GLENDALE–The Armenian National Committee of America- Western Region (ANCA-WR) Internship Program Summer Session 2011 is host to seven college students and recent graduates assisting in the daily operations and long term goals of the ANCA-WR. Zepiour Shabani, a graduate from University of California, Santa Barbara is one of the applicants chosen to participate in the internship program the summer of 2011.

Shabani’s interests in current events, world politics, and travel led her to a B.A. degree in global studies and, eventually, to the ANCA-WR internship program. Shabani currently works full time in the banking industry and interns on her days off. Shabani is also seeking to attend graduate school in the near future for a degree related to international studies or possibly public policy with an emphasis on international policy.

When asked what her intentions are while interning at the ANCA, Shabani responded, “With a world as interconnected as the one which we all live in, the only goal necessary is one which brings nations, people, and resources together to support growth, education and intercultural relations.”

The components of the Internship Program 2011 include workshops, a lecture series, media review seminars, special events, weekly meetings, blogging, and a final presentation. The interns also have a choice in selecting two of the work areas group specializations from Armenian Community Relations, California State Affairs, Community Relations, Elections, Fellows Program, Fundraising, and Professional Network.
