YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–An ad hoc committee has been set up within the governmental commission to deal with the Y2K problem and react to all emergencies resulting from the turn of the millennium and provide consultations on the problem. Deputy Director of the Institute of Informatics and Automation Vladimir Sahakian–who is involved in the working group of the commission–announced that the new committee will work throughout the transition period–starting on December 31 up to late January. It will ensure access to special duty groups of ministries and departmen’s in the event of an emergency.
As a result of computer equipment tests–the governmental commission exposed major hazards that may occur. The Emergency Management Administration may also be called out in the event of critical situations. .
