YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)– Armenia’s President Robert Kocharian signed a presidential order appointing Aghvan Hovsepian Armenia’s Prosecutor General Wednesday.
Hovsepian was born in 1953 in Yerevan. In 1974 he graduated from the Yerevan State University law school. From 1978 to 1986 he served as Prosecutor for the then Nagorno Karabakh autonomous region–as head of the investigations division.
Since 1989–Hovsepian has worked for Armenia’s Prosecutor’s office–where he dealt mainly with key investigations. In April of 1998–he became head of the investigations department.
From 1991-1995 he also served as a delegate to Armenia’s National Assembly.
