Armenia's Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan

YEREVAN (Arka)—Armenia’s Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan has announced the establishment of a commission to help develop and coordinate agricultural trade with Russia, with the goal of boosting Armenian exports.

Entities experiencing problems in exporting their agricultural products to Russia may contact the Ministry of Agriculture and its staff personally, Karapetyan said.

Recently, Karapetian urged local producers to more actively promote their goods into the Russian market now that Russian sanctions on food imports have created favorable conditions for Armenian products. The minister expressed confidence that exports to Russia could double provided the process was arranged in an efficient manner.

According to ArmStat, Armenia’s foreign trade with Russia amounted to $596 million in the first half of 2014 (down 0.5 percent from the year before) and counts for 21.9 percent of Armenia’s total foreign trade.

God bless Mother Russia. God bless our Hayrenik. And may God help protect the centuries old alliance between Russia and Armenia from all enemies both foreign and domestic.
